Can I take a box of sealed teabags to Australia?

My suggestion is bring it with you and declare it on arrival and in your quarantine card. The worse thing that can happen will be that they will confiscate it from you and matters solved. But if you do not declare it and they find it out, you'll be in trouble.

I have been travelling in and out Australia so many times during my student days, and I reckon honesty still the best option when dealing with quarantine in Australia.

probably not. theres a whole lot of things that you cant take into there including any kind of plant, seed, insect, or animal. australia's ecosystem is considered very fragile and when going through customs everyone and everything is inspected extremely thoroughly. being that a teabag contains the leaves and probably a few seeds of the tea plant, it probably wouldnt make it through customs, sealed or not. you cant even bring factory produced beef jerky into the country.

We have tea bags of all types and flavours here.
I wouldn't even attempt to bring any plant or animal matter through Customs into Australia.

Australian Quarantine Regulations.

On arrival at an Australian airport, your luggage is X-rayed by quarantine officers. You have to declare or dispose of any food, plants (including wood), animal products and some medicines may not be brought into Australia. If you are not sure about whether your goods are prohibited or not, declare them.

Hmmm...not really sure on that. I would just call customs and ask them but we have many types of tea bags here so I don't know why you would want to bring your own. If you are from the UK...there are specialty shops for items from there called the Taste of Britain... where I live anyway. They have a heap of stuff that you can't get here...and the supermarkets now all have UK sections with all kinds of stuff. We have a lot of ex-UK citizens living in our area though so I don't know if this is a countrywide thing or just here in Perth WA.

Why would you want to? This is Australia not the USA, we know about tea and have many different varieties. We even grow tea on the tablelands in north Queensland. If you really must bring your own, declare them at customs as has been suggested.

Declare them at customs and they will make the decision for you. You must declare any plant or animal products when entering the country. They will just give them the once over and probably let them in, if they find them in a bag and you havent declared them you could be fined.

Just bring it and declare it to customs, you should be able to after they check it, if not, they'll tell you that you can't and you lose some teabags, no biggy.

Yes.I get tea bags sent from Ireland every 2 weeks.My package is opened every time and resealed,but they are just checking to make sure that it isn't some else and I have gotten every parcel that my family have sent.
If your going through customs make sure to declare it just to be on the safe side.

I can't see there being a problem as long as its sealed and its put into your case that goes into the hold. If you take it on as handluggage then it will probably be confiscated. My advice is to check with the airline you're flying with. I've been to Austrailia theres not you you can t buy there.

well, i dont see what is wrong about taking teabags to australia. my nan takes teabags to spain, so whats the big deal?
