why is it that some people believe that boogiemen exist but they don't beleive that God actually exists?
why do they choose to believe in something that would scare them rather than believing in someone who could help them in their problems?

Who believes that the boogieman exists?
Only little children do because they are gullible and will believe anything you tell them .
I don't think I've ever seen or heard about an adult believing in the boogieman if they did they would be mentally insane..
People find it hard to believe in god because they have not seen any "physical evidence" but there is something that NO ONE can deny. It is that there are bigger forces working with the earth and our bodies that we will never understand as it beyond our human capabilities.
I don't think people have a right to say that god doesn't exist because we are ONLY humans and we could never understand everything.
Personally I do believe that god exists but he is not as people think he is . The people that don't believe in him pobably think that god is of human form therefore they rationally think that he does not exist because they can not imagine another being beeing so powerful.
The truth is that we will never fully understand ANYTHING because we as people are not united . We are SEPARATED.
Science can only go so far in OUR hands and can not tell us everything because we only know the laws that apply to this world.
As far as believing in monsters I guess people just have a natural fear of the unexplained.

I know boogiemen exist. Why? Because I am one. I have met some gods but not the one your talking about.

There are a lot of people that have never been taught correctly about God...And there are also many people that are disappointed in God, Because certain things did not happen for them.. Also the lack of knowledge about God is another reason.. And their lack of faith is another.... There are just to many reason, And you can't list them all... But many of these same people have experiences a ghost in their life-time and therefore that they believe that... But to us that know better believe in the existence both..................................................

That could be their belief system or how they were raised.
They could be dysfunctional as well.
