The Republican party has hired 2 gentlemen to run the California Republican headquarters. The job pays over $100.000 a year. One of these men was brought in from Canada, and the other from Austrailia.
Was there really no one here that could do that job? Or was there no one left to want a job with the Republicans?

There is the incompetence of the Republicans once again. You know, if it isn't on CNN no one seems to know what is happening next. All one has to do is let their imagination go, because it will be even worse than that!

I don't know if that is true, but I do know that the Republicans brought in a guy from Austria to govern the State!

And, I just looked up to do a "due dilegence check of the facts", and the questioner is wrong! The Republicans didn't hire two non-Americans (of any nationality) to run the California Republican headquarters. The link below shows those who are running it--none are from Australia. None are from Canada. All are Americans. So this is a case where everyone who answered just assumed that the person asking the question knew something. They didn't.
Check the facts first, folks.

To answer your question, I think there ARE some jobs that Americans are less inclined to do. Not just low-level jobs, but jobs all across the board. For instance, where I live we have been importing nurses from Russia for some time because of the severe nursing shortage (in addition to boosting recruiting for American students to enroll in nursing school..but they want to go to medical school and become doctors, not nurses!) Also the degree program that I was in - Chemistry - was FULL of Asians, especially people from China and India. My classes were usually split half and half between Americans and international students from Asia. Same for physics, pharmacy, engineering and computer science. These students, upon graduating had to line up an employer in the US to "sponsor" them, but most did and stayed and are now in our workforce. So yes, I would say that for many reasons, there are jobs in this country that Americans are less likely to do. If we eliminated all immigrants from the workforce, would we fill them? To some degree, yes, but we probably would not get the same caliber of worker. But, in regards to the 2 guys to run the GOP in California...I think that is just complete ******. It's not like there is a severe shortage of political sleazeballs in California to run a political party. California is like the 6th biggest economy in the WORLD. What are the odds that out of the entire state of California, they could not find 2 qualified Americans to do that job. Hahahaha silly Republicans.

Perfect example you have given. No one here in America with their qualifications would do what the do for that amount that is being paid to them. Of course you would probably do it but you are not qualified and that is what is happening in America. Americans are over pricing themselves out of jobs. They wont too much for what they are qualified to do. Foreigners are willing to do a lot of our jobs for less than what will do them for and sometimes they do better quality work. Sorry to say all this. A lot of the American unemployed are in their situations not because there a no jobs but because they will not take the pay that is offered for the jobs offered. For that reason employers are hiring foreigners a lot more. Truly noticeable in hotels here in Orlando.

How I answer your question is this way. The majory of immigrants come from south of the border and the majority of those immigrants from the south of the border are not here taking jobs as doctors and lawyers and senetors and nurses. They are taking jobs at fast food joints and clenaing jobs and painting and stuff that doesnt require any type of license and or a certain amount of education. I agree with Bush on this part. A friend of mine said "I just feel like everyone is coming here from Mexico and central and south America and taking out jobs!" I said "Since when was it your dream to go and work at Wendy's or McDOnalds?" She dint have much to say after that. She is a VET Technician and is in VET School, so she doesnt really have threats. Just let them be!

I live in Greeley, Co where ICE made a raid on a few months ago. We all saw it on the news or on TV. What they didn't show you was a week later the line for people applying for those jobs illegals took. Their was 500 people in line for 150 jobs. Do you think they took jobs americans would not do? This proves it. Americans wanted them jobs, just look at the lines their for employment.

That is an example of the incomptence of the California Republican Party.

I'm sure Americans would love to run a politican HQ. Apparently, Republicans disagree.

That comment from Bush was in reference to the jobs such as pulling tobacco, picking oranges, etc. the remedial jobs. Secondly that comment was total BS!!!!!! I remeber when I was a kid the local farmers where I grew up had no problems getting people to come pull tobacco. Bush only said that to cover up the fact that he doesn't want to have to do something about the immigrantion problem.

Bush is fibbing here...a half truth. Its not that its job people won't do...its jobs people won't do at a meager wage. Mexican people get $ to Peso advantage...the money they earn here is highly valued in Mexico and can support a lot people in a family south of the border. The American business sector picks up a labor supply that is willing to work for a cheaper wager under the table to pick up the currency exchange benefit to support their families back in Mexico.
