Go to the Last.fm website. Click the 'Music' tab top left. Search for the artists you mention and notice the 'Similar to..." bar in the left side of each artist's page.
Ie people who listen to Velvet Revolver also listen to Guns N' Roses, Audioslave, AC/DC, Aerosmith and Foo Fighters. So it's based on people's listening habits and as such aren't guaranteed to be similar, but it's a good bet.

I'm not too big on those but I love Shinedown and Theory of a Deadman, they sound a lot alike that I often confuse them.
