I recently purchased a used boat and motor, the motor is a 1970 Mercury 500 50hp Thunderbolt, and someone told me it had the wrong spark plugs in it. I have been searching the web in vain for a application guide to find out the different kinds of plugs that can be used in this, I would like to put the best ones in this motor. Does any one know a good site to refer me to. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You.

it could additionally advise that the cooling water this is blended (counting on motor layout) with the exhaust is calling a direction returned to the valves. Head gasket or coolant/exhaust difficulty - get it fixed now or pay dearly later.

the NGK # is BUHW. the Champion that originally came in that engine is L76V. an L77V will do also. try the NGK Spark Plup site...or maybe Champion.
