I'm sitting in a desk chair with a leather seat and headrest, webbing at my back, as I type this answer.... :) I have had a leather sofa for about 3 years now, and my husband has had his leather reclining chair for 8 years. The recliner is holding up beautifully. The one caveat I have about leather furniture is that the leather can be scratched and even torn; especially when pets and kids are around. We waited until our kids had grown up and all of our pets had died (our cats all lived to 17 to 19 years old) before buying our leather couch. My oldest daughter has moved back temporarily with her two dogs and cat......and I now have claw marks on the sofa. Oh well, I guess I'll be learning to repair leather. Otherwise; I love my leather sofa. The leather is soft and forms around me. It is easier to clean than the cloth couches we've had over the last 30 years. I do sometimes use a soft blanket underneath me, but most of the time I don't need to use it. I live in Florida, it is hot and humid most of the time here; so the leather stays nice and supple. Leather can be expensive, but my sofa is still looking good despite the claw marks; my other couches didn't hold up as well to our abuse.

leather. Used to have leather in one sitting room and material in the other - ended up getting leather in both. More hygenic as you can clean them. Make sure you get an nice soft
throw to snuggle up on!. I just can't bear the thought of not being able to clean a material sofa - yuk!

Depends where you live. If it's somewhere were there's a long hot summer every year I don't think leather is a wise choice. Material is more versatile as well.

I am a modern day chick. I have a leather three piece suit myself and it is real leather, not the fake stuff.
