I'm so sorry.I really think this is your decision and yours only.
A few things I may take into consideration is your cats age,and if there was anything you could possibly work out with the vet,as far as the expense for whatever is wrong with your cat.(payment plan etc)Good Luck to you Lady, and love to your cat..I hope all goes well.

It's a sad day when you have to choose between that. I don't like to see an animal suffer like that either, but I think it's best to let nature take it's course. I've put animals down in the past and now wish I wouldn't have, it's a bad feeling when you do that and I regret it, I believe you'll feel better about it if you just make your pet as comfortable as you can and let what happens naturally take place. That's all you can do. We don't do that to our loved ones when they get old and are in pain so why do we do it to our loved pets.

Unfortunately, this happens a lot. Animals cost almost as much as humans when they get ill. In my opinion, if there is not much chance of her getting well on her own, I would put her down. I could never just stand by and watch an animal suffer. Sounds like you can't either. No matter what you decide it will be a heartbreak for you. She knows you did everything you could for her and loves you for it.

Personally, I wouldn't put her down if there was any chance she could make a full recovery and lead a normal life.
You could put on your credit card or find some other way of financing it like there are organizations that help owners finance their pet's vet bill(i've read it on Answers).
But I would put her down if there was no way she could have a normal life(reliance on meds or etc).
I'm so sorry you have to make a decision about this.
I recently had to put my cat down after he was hit by a car and suffered kidney and liver failure. It was a very difficult to see him go.
I hope you make the best decision for you and your cat :)

I have had to have 2 cats and 2 dogs put down in the last 2 years. Thankfully my wife works for a vet. Don't know what to tell you. You have 2 tough choices, but you have to make them

i couldn't afford the vet bill either around christmas, but we did it. i took out a credit card, and made payments. i wouldn't have put my puppy down, and now he's fine.
it's a matter of her age, what's wrong with her, etc. if you can't afford to take care of her, then you need to sign over your rights, and let the vet treat her, then put her up for adoption.

If the cat has been really sick and you've tried- the best thing to do is to let the cat go as painless as possible... It's the best thing for the cat and your wallet... I wouldn't want to see the cat in pain anymore either....So sorry..

I feel so bad for you, I have been there. Please go and put her out of her pain. She will not suffer any more, and you can get on with your grieving.
I can tell you are a very caring person.
My thoughts are with you. ♥
