I take it well because I know not everyone is going to like me and there are people that I don't like all that much either. At least when they tell you, there is no guessing about where you stand with them.

That's a red light. She's just trying to say no in a nice way (IMHO). I don't mind rejection - it's life... I would just take it as a compliment that she thought enough of me to even bother to try and put it nicely!
