Yes, particularly the use of signing statements. Also the willingness of congress to just hand over decision making to the executive. Shame on them all.

Yes it has, but more for the last 6 years, while Republicans had all three branches of government and there was no oversight of Executive Abuse.

Bush has used more of those SIGNING STATEMENTS (thank you Ash!) to issue more laws which should be ratified through Congress than the last 4 Presidents combined.

When Clinton used them, Republicans were all over TV and radio saying how it's the end of Democracy in the US (you know, like flag burning and gay marriage, even though Reps havent done anything about THAT either in the last 6 years). Bush has used them over 150 times.

Abandoning the legal doctrine of Habeas Corpus was the gravest loss of personal freedom and civil liberty the US has ever suffered. Whichever Democratic candidate promises to reverse this slide toward Fascism and Totalinarianism will get my vote and anyone I can convince to's vote as well. Sorry, a republican wont promise that, or if he does, he won't keep his promise. I refer to a Republican candidate as "he" not to be sexist, but because its inconceivable to expect Republicans to field a female candidate.
So Habeas Corpus gone. (Thomas Jefferson is weeping) US citizens, with no proof, no evidence, no probable cause, can now listen to anyone's phonecalls, read anyones mail and email, look at your medical records and booklists, all without a warrant or any meaningful oversight.

"Well if you arent doing anything wrong, what are you afraid of?" How does the government KNOW your honest until theyve spied on you for a couple years?

I would say executive power in the last 6 years has exceeded Constitutional Authority by a country mile.

A couple of courts have told the President he has, I think they might have the qualifications to make that assessment.

No. In the US, we have checks and balances. Congress, the courts, and the left wing liberal loonies in the main stream media scrutinize every move the President makes.

Not just intentions, but the actual law, as well.

yes.

bush has repeatedly taken power that was never intended for him to have.

if he thinks he will get away with this, he is on drugs.

his prosecution will go well into the next decade - unless he flees - which (knowing his military record) is likely...

Not at all.

I suppose you hold none of those democrats responsible for authorizing the war in Iraq, or passing the patriot act.
