Why Does the Tolerant Left give us such a hard time about it.?

Why Is it that my Faith is absurd to them
yet It their theory is absurd to me and thats not tolerated by them!

Shouldn't they just feel happy that theirs is allowed to be taught in Public schools and mine is not...

What? You are under the spell of Limbaugh Hannity Coulter. Our constitution accepts that Americans can practice whatever belief they wish. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and persecuted by "liberals", it is a bald faced lie.

I would say the problem the "tolerant left" has is that the religious community, in which I consider myself, tends to mix the seperation of church and state part of The Bill of Rights. The religious right want to see the abortion law repealled, the gay marraige issue killed, and put prayer back in schools.

I am not saying that I agree with all these things. Gay marraige? I couldn't care less. It's a stupid arguement. Abortion is a personal thing. You want prayer in school, spend the money to send your child to a religious private school.

Faith is not absurd to the left. The idea that we cannot seperate church and state is absurd to them.

Since when was it "not ok for us religious people to believe in God?"

When was "belief" ever the issue?

You can believe in whatever you like - God, the Tooth Fairy, Joe Peschi - just don't try to inflict your beliefs on others; either directly or through politics.

This country is supposed to embrace ALL religions equally, and that means that Christianity does NOT get to assume that it is the official "state" religion.

I could care less about the public display of artifacts and symbols (ie. nativity scenes), but you don't get to harass people engaged in otherwise non-illegal activities, as many far-right conservative "Christian" groups do in this country. There IS a dividing line between "witnessing" and harassment.

As Dennis Miller once said,"Religion is most often the backboard for every bank shot put up by someone making it their business to get into your business."

Belief is not the issue.

There is a difference in believing in God and using religion to justify a war because the prophecy told us this was going to happen there is a good reason politics and religion should not mix.
I went to a religious school and so did my children but I do respect other people beliefs or if they are atheists I respect that as well.

Don't know where you got your misconception about the left. Do you know any liberals personally?

Of course it's OK for you to believe in God. Your faith can't be taught because it's religion - not based on science or fact. If you really want to have religion taught in public schools the you're OK with Buddhism and Taoism too?

I don't know what theory you're referring to. Have to be more specific.

The problem I see is that they act as conservatives who believe in religion as the same as the terrorists who have their religious belief. Even though Ann Coulter is so hated by the left and I disagree with her on a number of points I do agree with her that to some leftists especially though in power positions liberalism is a religion. So when they say we are trying to take our religion into government or government into the bedroom they do it all the time. My biggest problem is they take one letter from Jefferson to say that the founders did not see religion had a place in government. But the way they use that letter is so out of the context as to why Jefferson wrote it and his life before and after it and Jefferson even though he was a key contributor our founding is only one of the founders and many of them believed religion was the key to our government and its citizens future.

Believe what you want. The problem is that many on here claiming to be christians don't like it when people like me say, I don't believe in your god and I also believe the constitution gives us freedom from religion as well as freedom of religion. I don't buy into organized religion and I went to catholic school for nine years. I believe in being more spiritual, not religious. People interpret that as I don't believe in god and so I become a godless anti-American who is trying to destroy christian values. I say again, believe what you want, just don't try to force it upon me.

You may believe in Anyone or anything you wish.

What you may NOT do is use that belief to keep others from living their lives in the manner THEY wish to live it. You may not bomb abortion clinics or murder doctors who perform abortions. If you wish to protest, Protest the Right , who had control of Washington for 6 years and did nothing about your concerns regarding abortion. Or do you just feel bad for the fetuses when Democrats are in office?

What you may not do is use your belief to bully others (emotionally and otherwise) into accepting your faith as fact.

What you may not do is expect other people to live according to your belief system.

You refer to the "Tolerant Left", does this mean you consider the Right to be Intolerant? Or less tolerant than the left? Aren't Christians TAUGHT to be tolerant?

What was Gods most important commandment for all of mankind to follow? Why do you think that Commandment was more important to GOD than all others? The left can see the Hypocrite for what they are.
