My steps used to call their biological father by his first name. Their mother trained them to do that. I think they went back to calling him Dad when they became adults. I've never done it myself, but am intrigued by the idea. I don't think I could. Maybe if I have my own kids I'll start doing that though. There are too many divorces in my family that I can't really use last names with the "Grandpa, Grandma" thing. Maybe it will have to be like "Grandpa First Name".

I grew up with assorted human beings whose families are so liberal that the wide-unfold individual could be a great deal shocked if I have been to show various the flaws they stated or did. yet I in no way knew absolutely everyone who referred to as their mom and dad via their first names. Honor Your Father and Your mom is likely one in each and every of the few training interior the Bible that i actually think of is an excellent theory.

I call my parents mom and dad. My kids occasionally call us by our first names just kidding around but mostly mom or dad. It's definitely a form of respect.

It all depends on how you were raised. Small children are like sponges when it comes to learning. I call my parents Mom and Dad, however my Mom calls her Dad by his first name as she was taught by her mother. Her parents divorced when she was very young and her mother would refer to him as "Johnie," so she grew up calling him that instead of Dad.

in a way, to call our parents by the name is a form of disrespect. i guess we are being brought up that way. if you think about it, there's no reason behind this. just like why female wear skirts and boys dont....think about it
anyway, i stick to calling my mum and dad, well mum and dad. HOwever, WHEN i am introducing them to my friends say from aus, i will introduce them by their name. i guess its the whole culture and all
