If brushing fails you, you may have to make more efforts.

You have to scrape your tongue - if you don't have a tongue scraper, you may use the side of the spoon. Scrape from the visible end of the tongue - this removes the dried up saliva with bacteria. You may see a sticky white thing on the spoon, rinse it off until debris is gone. Do it again about five times regularly - about twice a day. After this, brush your teeth on each side - make sure you pass each section of the teeth at least twenty times - the upper, wedge and back of the teeth. You may use a gargle or mouthwash just make sure that there is no alcohol as it may cause a stinging sensation in the mouth.

Visit the dentist too every six months or at least twice a year. If maintenance in the mouth doesn't do good maybe the teeth may be the problem.

Also refrain from staying from strong smelling and spicy foods like onions, peppers. Make sure you brush your teeth every meal and floss too.

I hope this helps you. =)

A lot of people are saying you should see the dentist and brush your teeth. Yes, that's true, but you may also have halitosis, the condition of chronic bad breath. See your doctor and he/she will prescribe a medication for you to take that will help, otherwise he/she might have something else in mind. I know that this sort of stinks, but it is worth a try. If you google halitosis, you will find more information and you might be able to deduce on your own whether or not you have it!

Good luck!

Are you brushing your teeth properly? You should brush the inside as well as the outside and don't forget about your tongue as it carries bacteria. Do you have gingivitis? (bleeding gums) This could also cause odor. I'd suggest using a soft toothbrush if you do and seeing your dentist about this problem. You should also monitor what you eat foods like onion and garlic cause bad breath. Try gargling with mouthwash. You may also wish to chew gum or suck on a piece of mint candy as your problem could also be dry mouth.

The first step is to go to the dentist and have your teeth cleaned. Getting your teeth cleaned by the dentist gives you a fresh, clean base to start with. The second step is to brush and floss after meals. Ever notice how bad food smells when it starts to go bad? The plaque in your mouth is rotting food. Even if you brush, if you don't floss, you'll leave smelly bits of food in your teeth. Keep your teeth clean and mouth wash and mints will actually have a chance to work.

Have you seen a dental hygenist in the last year? Do you floss your teeth every day? Having a great breath is one thing but maintaining your teeth and smile are important also.

All the above suggestions are very good, but also consider taking antacids; sometimes the foul odor is coming from the stomach. It's true!
