Security systems that use radar. store door openers. And here in Fort Worth Texas some idiot decided to put radar emitters on school buses to set off radar detectors. Rolling false signals I call them and new GPS enabled detectors have a hard time as do I looking around those fake signals to the real traffic radar. So I drive slow and put my detector away. Don't let your school system waste money on such a boondoggle.

The quick answer is that is the frequency that the beastie is detecting. The microwave frequency where divided into lettered groups by some bright spark. The k - band is around18 and 27 GHz. K band. In radar terms the higher the frequency the greater the resolution of targets, meaning that two targets close together would seem like one at a lower frequency but as two at this frequency.
