A famous novel named after the hero of the story, which was about the Roman empire days...and the early Christian martyr days [when they threw Christians into the colosseum for sporting events with lions, etc.]. The book was made into a movie twice--once sometime in the 1930's [?] and then again in the 1950's, starring Charlton Heston as Ben Hur. The most famous part of the movie was a big chariot race in the Roman colosseum--wheels coming off, horses & chariots tipping over, etc. Look in IMDB.com for details about the movies....Google about the novel too! My gran always said it was a stinker.
