Ever notice how nice they are when they come to visit us how polite they are ! Do you think when they go home some thing happens to them?

Ray, can you be a little more specific?
Edit: I am a Brit and live in the US. A few of my folks have visited here and love the history, geography and the culture. They have found that many citizens reciprocate their politeness. Why would someone desire to visit this country with the intention of not being polite. When they return they mostly have good reports to tell their family and friends. Speaking for many British visitors, they love their country. The one disgruntled thing they have is the economy which has gone down hill over the past few years. But they are optimistic that it will get better.

The reason that they are polite is simple: politeness is a stronger cultural value there than in the US. I have no idea what you think might happen to them when they return home. Most likely they tell their friends and neighbors about how their trips went and how the Americans they met treated them.
I hope they report that we were polite as well.

Umm we are generally a polite lot here! There are exceptions though - like anywhere in the world.

Every time I've been in Europe, any country, everyone has been nice and helpful.
Maybe it's YOUR attitude that puts them off? I know it has me.
