You can use Operation Northwoods as proof that such conspiracies are considered at the highest levels of our government. Details can be found with a Google search.

This one is great! It's a little long and it involves a variety of items from the myth of religion to 9/11 to the conspiracy of the Federal Reserve, but it answers a lot of political questions regarding the world in which we live.

This is an assignment? I had some radical liberal professors, but none openly asked for anti-govt biased papers.

Simply put, there are no credible sources for such absurdity. You could quote Rosie who claims that steel has never been melted by fire (of course metal is ALWAYS melted by fire) Or you could site those who claim that our govt somehow put enough explosives in WTC 7 to bring it down (though it would take more than would go unnoticed, and the FACT that taking down WTC 7 in such a way would bring suspicion.

Even my 13 year old daughter asked this question after hearing about the conspiracy theory about WTC 7, after she considered it. "If bringing down the 2 largest buildings was such an emotional impact, what purpose would they have had to bring down WTC 7? They did not need a larger impact, and it would only draw suspicion ot the govt., so why do people think that the govt would destroy such a brilliant plan with a detail so stupid?"

So, my 13 year old makes more logical sense than the radical liberal conspiracy theorists.

Finally, as to your war for oil theory...if this is the case, WHEN ARE WE GOING TO TAKE SOME OIL SO MY GAS PRICE CAN GO DOWN????? We have not touched a drop!!!! War for oil, and we leave the oil???? That claim is just stupid!!!!

Consider that Iraq's oil production now is below pre-war level.

If we're truly their ONLY for oil why don't they put all troops in oil field.

But instead we got US troops around Bahgdad trying to provide security for newly formed gov in Iraq.

Oil is big reason to go to Middle East but it's not just oil. You're taking very superficial view on Middle Eastern issues.

Securing energy source for us and western world is no secret. As Bush actually said several times we can't let our oil fall into hands of enemies.

If you're history student you should be aware that conspiracy theories have popped up after almost all major disasters, wars, other major events...

Including...

Theories on
Katrina-gov bombed levee
Oklahoma bombing-FBI covered up info
Swissair Flight 111-missile shot it down
Pearl Harbor- gov knew about it
And many many more

Also be aware of internet. Lot of information circulate on internet have been twisted, altered, often times from single source, vague interpretations...etc.

Not a good source for HISTORY assignments.

I'm a liberal who despises Bush for the butchery caused with the Iraq war. But there's no credible sources for your assignment, find it hard to believe a teacher would assign such a topic.

Glad to see that our educational system is favoring our Government . There is no proof , only theories on that subject. I would write a essay showing all the existing facts on why the U.S. did not cause 9/11 if you are indeed neutral.

Conspiracy theories are alive and well (just read the one directly above me).... however, and this is a big however, none are backed by credible evidence. I do believe, however, that these theories are useful in problem solving and preparing for future incidents, especially home grown ones.

Conjecture reigns in some folks minds, long before reality sets in.... don't let this happen on your paper!

Good Luck!

Yeah,id say it probably is,because the western powers are engaged in a scramble for energy resources, and now that the russians have very large resources, and the chinese are after the resources in Africa, they are forced to act,and its only just beginning.

OK. I typed "who caused 9/11 peak oil" into a search box, and the first result is here:

It's pretty silly, though...

bush and the majority of the u.s. government should get the same treatment as Saddam. It was blatantly deliberately allowed to happen (the twin towers thing). they had to have a valid reason to go to war, and the majority of the public are gullible enough to fall for it.
