First, translation part:
they are Italian, therefore I have made the English translation with a translator online (one true stupidaggine!!!), before the question asked: learning English I succeed to understand the American (I have felt that they are much various, is true?!?)?.

Next, I would recommend the following resources:

Alot of people speak spanish in San Diego. I took Italian in college and found that I understood alot because of my knowledge of spanish. You will be ok.

Check

www.craigslist.com
for an apartment and price ranges.

You can also take more English classes in San Diego. Since we are close to Mexico there are a lot here.

Try

www.craigslist.com
for a job also.

Goodluck and welcome!
