A picture's worth a thousand words. Look at TESTIMONIALS and at the PowerPoint.
I'm glad you're not planning on owning one.

`You can Google "Caring for pet monkeys" and get a number of sites with good information.

One of the issues I have not seen addressed is cost. A monkey, IF you can obtain a permit and IF you can find a breeder who sells them, is VERY expensive. A capuchin can cost more than $25,000; a woolly can cost more than $30,000. Then there are food and vet bills to consider.

The above doesn't consider the fact that monkeys are social animals. They need companions. So, to paraphrase the old Lays Potato Chip commercial, "Nobody can own just one!"

Try three so the monkeys can form a small social group.

Forget about vacations. Unless you can afford a live-in helper, you'll need to stay home to take care of your monkeys
yourself.

The sad thing about monkeys is that they are VERY difficult to keep in captivity. They are subject to respiratory diseases and other maladies that are difficult to treat. The sad thing is that most monkeys that have been in captivity did not survive. Forget about the money. When you lose a lovable little monkey, it is a heartbreaking experience.

This is one case in which I absolutely support PETA's position.
