I have got a MCE computer with tuner and a ATI radeon X850 graphics card. The problem is that the fan in the graphics card blocks the PCI-E port for my tuner and with a dial-up modem in the other one i cant watch tv without swapping the two things round. or is there another way round the problem.

if you can get a external PCI-E port please leave details on where you can get it from.

thanks

NO. You see, a video card requires very high speed to bring video from the motherboard to your display, You can only use the internal slot to gain access to these high speed signals.

Sorry, you are in a JAM and can't get out of it. You might be able to find a video card that has a smaller fan, so it all fits.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

If you really need the dial-up modem ( what no broadband?) its probably a lot cheaper and easier to use an external USB dial up modem - £20. , which will free up the slot for the graphics card

this is a better solution than an external graphics card - as you want to keep higher speed data buses as short as possible ( as per Danutti's answer).. even a 1.1 usb port would have no problem with an external 56k modem

There are 2 options buy an external modem or an external TV tuner. I would suggest buying the modem as it will be cheaper

Get an ATX or BTX motherboard instead, I know where you're coming from though as my PCI-E x16 graphics card is blocking one of my damn PCI slots, but I've got four in total so have three left. Bad design is the problem.

Nope, PCI-E is INTERNAL only, if you need to swap cards about, do it, but remember you MAY have to allow windows to read teh CD for dirvers ater, shouldn'æt but might have to.

It'll detect as new hardware.

they are not available yet, just wait a like 6 months, otherwise for now there's no way around the problem or just buy another motherboard and upgrade if it bothers you alot.
