I know you are not comfortable with the idea of seeing a gynecologist but you really need to see one about this problem.
You can request that the appt be done in plainclothes first before anything else. I would also recommend that because it's going to be your first time that you try a lady physician. I think that this will help make the experience less intimidating as well.
Also, when it does come time for the exam a really good dr will explain to you what they are doing as they do it. But please when you see the dr let them know you are concerned about the exam and they will try to help you feel comfortable with having the exam.
Only the gynecologist can help you to try to figure out what is causing this problem.
If you have other questions for me about the gyn exam please feel free to e-mail or IM me away from the site any time.

you are more than likely not experiencing vaginal shrinking. I don't know exactly what makes you think you are, but I think you are obsessing about your own bodily functions. Maybe you have a fear of something wrong going down there. your vagina is only supposed to be 3 1/2 to 4 inches long. during sexual arousal the vagina lengthens to about 7-8inches long because the uterus retracts through spasms up into the pelvic cavity. this is perfectly normal. Maybe you should go to your doctor so that he can examine you and reassure you that there is nothing wrong with you. when I was a young girl like you are now, I used to do the very same thing. I'd worry constantly that I was not normal. Please don't worry anymore about this. OK!!!!!!!!!!

Some times these symptoms can be psychosomatic, meaning your anxiety or nervousness can affect certain body functions. One such common problem in women is frigidity. It may be that some past life experiences may be the cause. Dream analysis is sometimes helpful. I would say you better consult a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist who specialises in sexual health. But don't worry too much, it can only make it worse. Moreover these presentations are not so uncommon. All the best.

I have never heard abt such a problem.
Ur saying tht ur vagina is actually shrinking, how can tht be possible.
No one can explain to u on the net wats must b the real problem.
This is not the practical way to ask people abt ur vaginal(internal) problems.
U better visit a specialist on this,dont b shy!!if u really want a solution

You are extreamly skinny! Lady, you need to keep your BMI normal so your lipid-based hormones can work! Is your height and weight correct?? If so, you need to consult with your gyn doc, possibly with endocrinologist too,and you definately need to eat!
If you feel so uncomfortable showing your body to gyn, tell her/him so, and ask if you can do blood test to check female hormone level. You can describe in detail about your condition to doc. Any doctor would feel uncomfortable not checking what's going on with their own eyes, but they don't want to upset you either.
I read your question in R&S section, is this problem troubleed you so much? Don't worry about your body shape, eat now for your own sake!

I've never heard of this. And I know you didn't want to hear this, but...
You really DO need to see a gynecologist, because whatever the problem is, I am certain there is no way to fix it through Yahoo Answers.

CHANGED MY ANSWER...I looked it up and the only thing I could find about your problem had to do with menopause...you are way too young for that. You NEED to go to the DOC!
