the larger no is 7 - y.
7 - y + y = 7.

the difference of the two no. is 7. if y represents the smaller no. how can u represents rhe larger no?

y + 7 will be the larger number or we can call it x and write

x = y + 7

if y represents the smaller number, then it would be presented as y=7-x
if x represents the bigger number, then it would be presented as x=7-y
