Can you please help me, and tell me what is the slope of the line passing through the point (7,4) and (0,0) ? I think it is -4/7 but I am not sure. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

To work out the gradient of a line you can use the equation (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
so 7 is your 1st x coordinate, 4 is your 1st y coordinate
0 2nd x coordinate and 0 2nd y coordinate...
(0-4)/(0-7)= -4/-7 negative signs cancel out so 4/7 is your answer

Plot the ponts (0,0) and (7,4) and draw a line thro` them.
The line is sloping UPWARDS and therefore the gradient , m , is positive.
By calculation:-
m = (4 - 0) / (7 - 0) = 4 / 7
(positive slope as found from plotting points)

so easy
slope = m = ( y2 - y1 ) / ( x2 - x1 )
here x1=7, y1= 4
x2= 0, y2= 0
so m = ( 7-0) / ( 4- 0 ) ==== 7/4
check whether your question is right or not,
i think it should be ( 0, 0 ) first and then ( 7, 4 ) then the answer is -4/7

it is 4/7 since the line isn't decreasing.

according to the web site below:

slope = rise/ run = change in y/ change in x

in this case it would be

(4-0)/(7-0) = 4/7
