I'll buy a new one to replace the old. I'll hand the new one to them and say sorry for losing the old one. BTW, is their decision as to whether to forgive me or prepare to face the risk of losing my friend over such small issue. I mean, that's all I can do, right? Let the past be a past, never let it interfere with our present, thus ensuring a peaceful future of our friendship. That's my opinion to this problem.

i would try to search the same thing in the market and buy it any cost.
OR
i would try and make him\her forget about that thing and would forget about it
OR
i would confess in front of him\her and leave it to him\her whatever he\she takes the next step
OR
the best thing is that you tell him\her everything and give her the money for the same.

try finding another one and replce it and tell your friend what happened. if cant find another one then just tell your friend and offer to buy another one or give the money for it.
