The simplest exemplary interpretation of the situation of the question is that of a home, or a country. The people in an ideal home would love the head of the household for internal reasons: affection, kindness, peace, harmony, comfort, sense of belonging, family pride and many other things. People would also fear the same person for the fact that there is a big wide world outside, and most of it is unknown to them. A consuming fear of the complete and utter unknown outside is more likely to be replaced with, or counteracted by, a fear of more benign nature, the fear that makes people feel secure, that enable them to respect boundaries between the familiar and known and the unknown. We can see that these boundaries of God’s laws are not the confines of a prison, but that of a loving home. They are meant to keep us within the folds of safety and protection.
The fear of God in its finest form is, in fact, the fear of losing His love, kindness and compassion.

In my opinion many people are afraid and fear God, aswell as look to Him for hope. They feel when times go wrong, that if they turn to Him and prey - He will look after them.
I believe people are scared, that if they don't believe in God - then He will send bad things on them in life (If there is a God) and may send them to Hell instead of Heaven.
Then there are people who love God and honestly believe that He is ^ there.
thanks
take care

Im just grateful to be alive and to enjoy the love of family and friends and work and garden and so on. When my heart sings, its with praise. I only fear the uncomfortable consequences of my own daft mistakes. I realise that for many people in the world, the freedom to live with this way is not available and their lives are dangerous and unpredictable. I dont believe that they are being punished by any kind of god. I do know that their suffering is invariably the consequence of otrhere people's dreadful mistakes and insensitive greed-mine included since I live in relative luxury with copper piping, electricty and petrol in the tank.

I believe fear is a hindrance that detaches us from God or Spirit or Source or Mother or whatever you believe. God LOVES us no matter what. The more I recognize Gods love around me, the less I fear. Gods love is everywhere. We worship and praise God because of This, our love!

Each individual worships and preys for their own reasons I guess although I would say quite a large proportion do so because they are afraid for their own well-being if they don't.

I see it like this when at certain times in our lives we maybe do something to hurt or scare someone else then we fear gods wrath but when things are going well for us and we have everything in our lives that keeps us happy then we love god so it all depends on what is happening in our lives at one particular time.

In order to receive an accurate answer this question must be asked on an individual basis. For it is true that people as a whole fall into both and neither of these two categories!
