Are there different versions of "Chasing the Devil"?

I am reading the book "Chasing the Devil" by Sheriff David Reichert, 2004. I looked it up in Amazon.com and found it got some not-so-good reviews. However, there is another "Chasing the devil" by the same author, published in 2005, got all 5 star reviews. Are these two book different?

There is a hardcover version and an audio book (abridged) version, but they're all by the same author. The 2 sites listed below have different reviews. I guess there's a lot of subjectivity in a review, not everyone likes the same stuff. But even among reviewers, some are more credible than others, and some (like Michiko Kakutani, a pulitzer prize - winning critic for the New York Times) can make or break a book.
