no i dont think it should be banned no i am not saying that as an smoker i'm saying that as a person who values his rites. saying that smoking should be banned is as stupid as saying bars shouldnt be allowed to sell alcohol. yes its a expensive an unhealthy habit. i wont argue that fact. however our country was built on freedom. alot of buisness their biggest customer base are smokers. these idiots that wanna pass this law would be hurting the buisnesses of the country. now in the defense of these antismoker freaks. if a buisness wants to go smoke free. then it has the rite to do so. or if it wants to build a seperate section for smokers they should be allowed to do so as well. the feds;state;counties and city governments dont really have the rite to make these bans its antiamerican and goes against everything our founding fathers believed in.

If you mean ban smoking altogether, then no, I don't think that is right. If you mean ban it inside public places, then I think that is quite appropriate.

However, I don't feel I should have to pick up the tab for the health care of people who have knowingly put their health at risk by smoking. I believe smokers should have to pay more in insurance than a nonsmoker.

I think there are places where it should be banned or at least limited, but I would be opposed to banning it altogether.

I'm a former smoker, quit 35 years ago. Best decision I ever made. The main effect a smoking ban has on me is to make my air cleaner, but I do understand what smokers go through, so I don't favor punishing them for what is just a bad habit.

As much as I hate cigarettes and how inconsiderate some people can be while smoking them, I dont think it should be banned because yes it would be walking on our rights. It already is banned in alot of places, which is wrong. Theres so many other things the government should be focusing on.

Banned where? In restaurants and other public places? I have no problem with that. Just don't come into my home and my car and tell me what to do. And do it sensibly. Stadiums have banned smoking in your seats (open air stadiums) and moved smoking areas inside, where everyone has to walk through them. Oh yes. That makes so much sense.

It's a hard question because if you were giving yourself small doses of poison everyday wouldn't you want someone to stop you if eventually it will kill you? Of course unless you want to die.
But then there are those of us who would like to live as healthy and long as possible. Some people have a higher risk of developing terrible cancers if they inhale cig-smoke. Now is it fair for smokers to put others at a greater risk of such a dangerous disease?
Plus, for all of the Hollyweird Stars and people who say they are concerned about air pollution and global warming and all that jazz, yet they smoke like a train, Your hypocrites. Smoking is a death trap. I think smoking should be banned so people could be healthy and have more money for more quality things.but it won't be.

I quit smoking several years ago but that was my choice , I think bans are going to far now , we all have rights those who smoke and those who don`t, I mean I probably get more lungs full of car fumes than cig smoke each day as I ride my bike to work year round.
I say if a bar owner wants his place to be smoke bar then so be it ,to me it`s the owners choice it`s his property.

I used to smoke, it was a choice I made to start and a choice to stop.

I believe the anti smoking crowd is just another chance for liberal do gooders to control the lives of others. It has everything to do with control and nothing to do with anything else.

I believe the biggest shock to the anti smoking crowd would be to pay all of the taxes if people actually did stop smoking.

smoking is not like alcohol. alcohol does not polute the enviornment but smoking does. forget about the enviornment, a non-smoker sitting beside a smoker will be facing hell when he smokes. then one can imagine whether smoking to be banned or not. what i am conveying is - though consumption of alcohol is also an evil which is banned in some states is a less evil comparing to smoking!
