Has there been an attempt by scientist to produce a life form using human sperm/egg with animal sperm/egg?

Horse (64 chromosome) and Donkey (62 chromosome) forms Mule (63 chromosome)

So shouldn't that work with humans (46 chromosome) and chimps/gorilla (48 chromosome)?

and shouldn't a gorilla be able to interbreed with a chimp since they have the same amount of chromosome?

Number of chromosomes does not equate to amount of chromosomes, or the similarity between species. Horses and donkeys are much more closely related than humans and gorillas. Humans and Gorillas had a common ancestor at least about 10 million years ago, Horses and donkeys shared an ancestor about 3-4 million years ago. That is a lot of evolutionary change.
