how should you do?? like do you mean how do you do it?
i take a light pink polish and do two coats...wait for it to dry
then i take band-aids and cut them in half. i put the band-aid in the center of my nail and the point where i want the white tip to end.
i take the white polish and cover the tips. no need to worry about your smile line because the band-aid makes it perfect.
wait a few minutes, pull off the band-aid, and cover with a clear coat

You can go to the chemist and get relatively cheap french manicure kits that come with everything you need to do it yourself, I have never had a problem with them, you just need to take your time doing it and don't rush. Everyone commented on how great my nails looked after doing it myself with one of the diy kits. Casts way less than getting it done at a salon too! good luck!

As for a French pedicure - apply a bit of Post Note paper or tape below the tip you want to paint white after you've let the base coat dry completely.
