I tend to believe that if they are well paid they are less likely to be susceptible to bribery.

At least that used to be conventional wisdom. These days, greed seems to have no bounds.

They would have to draft it and vote for it, of course, so we are unlikely to see it happen.

I wouldn't mind them having a good salary and even perks, as long as they earn it and so far, I wouldn't pay this do-nothing Congress minimum wage. I mean this new Congressional body has done very little, if anything, at all. They told us that they would reach out, but the only time bi-partisanship has happened is with this damn immigration bill (AMNESTY!).

We were also told that the Democrats under Pelosi and Reid, would pressure Bush for an end to this failed war; but when push comes to shove, they folded so damn fast it's mind-boggling.

I do like the new hate crimes bill that was recently passed in the House, but at this point I'm doubtful the Democrats have the balls to try to override a possible veto.

I am fine with the perks and salaries. I want them to earn them, though.

No, that would make them fair game for more off-the-books favors by lobbyists.

They're all rich anyway. They should do it for FREE! They only do it because they crave the power.
