I am going to vegas first time and have following questions:
1) I am staying at Treasure Island Hotel and have meeting at Ceasars Palace. Can anyone tell me the distance and mode of transportation between the 2? Someone told me its walking distance, while some saying that Not a good walk at night.

2) I want to play on 'Slot Machines' but have never used one so far. Can someone tell me if I need to have coins or if I can exchange my dollar bills at the casino and get some tokens etc?

Appreciate sincere advice please.

Rick

The distance is not bad i have walked it many times but if you have a meeting i do not recommend it. there is a bus (the deuce) that only runs up and down the strip there are many of them so you dont really have to wait, its $5 for a 24hr pass they run all night but they can take time because they stop at every hotel. you best bet is to use the hotel shuttle or a taxi out front. and you questions about the slots most hotels (almost all) you can use dollar bills if some how you find one that you cant there will be a ticket machine nearby. i recommend getting a club card. many places will give you free play and a book of coupons for free drinks and shows. Just try to have fun dont worry about walking the strip it crowded but a fun experience. oh and check out the pirate show out side you hotel its free!! Hope I helped.

from the T.I. to the Ceasars palace is walking distance, but if your running late for your meetings then you should take a taxi. I don't know who told you it's not good to walk at night, because las vegas makes their money at night, meaning a lot of people there. Las Vegas is a 24 hour city The strip is always busy.

As for the slot machines, you don't need tokens or coins. the machines only use dollars. And when your done gambling if you still have credit left, just cash out and the slot machine gives you a receipt to turn in at the cage counter or a change machine.

TI to Caesars is less than a half mile and can easily be done in 20 minutes tops. Take the monorail that connects TI and Mirage then walk out to the strip. The Forum Shops entrance is just feet away from the Mirage. The longest part of the walk is through the Forum Shops into Caesars. I have maps of all three places to help you get there on my site at...

As for safety, I wouldn't have any problem with my wife making that walk at any time of day.

The answer to your second question, no need for coins at all any more. Simply put you bill into the slot machine and when you are done, it prints out a paper voucher which you can cash in or put into another machine. It is one of the best innovations in a casino in years!

Have a great trip!

In the order asked:

1. It's a reasonable walk. It's less than 3/4 of a mile front door to front door. (There are shortcuts) There's enough people on the street most of the time (you'll probably see the same number of people at 3am as you would at 3pm) that it's safe. The only other option would be to cab it and in traffic, that could take a half an hour. (I'm not exaggerating.)

2. Most of the slots in Vegas no longer take coins. They take bills of any denomination, as well as the tickets that they print out to cash out your winnings with. You can buy chips to use at any table game at the tables or at the casino cage. These chips are ONLY good at tables -and if you buy them at the table, you need to stay at that table unless you cash out.

here you have it ..... if you want to sight see , walk by all means, it may be 15-20 mins. If you just need to get where your going just take a cab. actually it may look safe to walk , but i wouldn't @night on the strip especially the further north you are. I have a few Metro(cops) friends and it's not recommened As far as the slots no coins neccesary .... bills only in most casinos anymore.

1) You can walk the strip at night, you'll be fine, Ceaser's is well within walking distant to T.I...you'llbe fine just as long as you don't go passed the Stratospehere at night, shady charasters at night pass the Stratospehere, between the Ventinan & NY-NY you'll be fine!

2)They don't use coins anymore, stick a doller in the machine, and you'll get a paper ticket voucher for the money, go to the redemtion window to cash it in.
