Your right. OOOppps after futher searching, I found that you are incorrect.

Norbit (Murphy) describes how his parents literally tossed him outside the Golden Wonton Orphanage just after he was born in 1968. Raised by owner Mr. Wong (Murphy, again), Norbit becomes close friends with cute little girl Kate (China Anderson), who's then adopted and taken away.

Ring Pops were introduced in 1977 and have become one of America's most popular lollipop products. Initially, they were offered in only 2 flavors, cherry and grape. Today, Ring Pops are available in 11 different fruit and twisted flavors, so the flavor's always on hand.

Norbit was born 1968, therefore at the time they gave each other the ring pops (1978) they had just came out a year before.

Norbit was pretty funny! As to the Ring pop question, the Ring Pop was actually introduced in 1977.
