NO! The sort of people likely to compromise our safety are more than capable of forgery. The misguided belief that ID cards will make us all safe, is something which quite frankly irritates me. How long will it be before the GPS chip implanted in our heads at birth, warn us that we are going to step on a crack in the pavement?? (for our own safety, - of course).

I now live in Edmonton, Canada and they have this system where everyone has to give their ID to the bouncers before they get into the night club. The bouncers swipe it into a machine and let the person in. These machines are networked all around the city.

If they get thrown out of the bar / club they get bared from every place in the city.

I feel completely safe in a bar here and never seen any trouble.

They should do the same for public transport in the UK, ban all the d**k heads getting in.

It would have to be automatic, like an oyster card or some other RFID tracking device; otherwise it would slow tings down more than they already are.

The problem with this is that the process also acts as a tracking device.

NO it would be a bother for 99.999% of the travelling population, and it wouldn't improve safety at all. Remember that anti-social activists would have to have been identified already, and they'd be under supervision wouldn't they?
