I always wanted to be a teacher. It's what I thought I would be since I was very small.
No, it didn't work out that way. I didn't complete college, but then I married, had 3 sons and divorced.
I had to make my own way and it was somewhat scary. I started out doing part time work as a switchboard receptionist.
I am now a 9-1-1 supervisor and I'm very happy with my job. I get to help people every day of my life, and that pleases me more than I can say. I have truly been blessed.
No one could be more surprised at my achievements than I am. Good to know that we can adapt to any circumstance and still be happy with the outcome.

My mom wanted my sisters & I to be the next Lennon Sisters, but then she was killed before any of us even turned ten, so things changed.
By the time we were in our teens, Motown was the sound so we practiced the Supreme songs to try to live the dream, but didn't have parental support to follow through.
I loved to read everything & write short stories, so deep down I wanted to be a writer. Because I had good grades I was told I should be a teacher.
I ended up being an inventory clerk, getting a degree in Manufacturing & Materials Mgmt., working in Project Mgmt., then becoming a Data Mgr.
When I got downsized I got my certification as a Floral Designer, so once I settle into my new home & get my garden going, I'll probably do something with that - or maybe I'll gather all my old journals & finally write that book I've wanted to write for years.

I wanted to be vet, but it wasn't to be. I'm a social worker instead, so I suppose instead of fixing sick pets I get to assist in the recovery of unwell humans. Still, thats as rewarding I think :)
