If you're talking McDonald's burgers, there are thousands of cows from a dozen different countries in that one tiny little patty. There are fewer cows in grocery store ground beef, but the pre-packaged stuff (ie wal mart beef) is probably still in the hundreds. Grocery stores that butcher their own beef probably only have three or four different cows in a package. If you don't want your cows coming from all over the world, look for the "All-American" label. Your best bet is probably organic beef from a local farm or co-op, or growing your own...better yet try Amy's Kitchen veggie burgers!

Hmm. I have never really thought about it, but it seems to me like it would only be one, MAYBE two. Whole chunks of meet get processed at a time, so I would think most ground beef packages or patties are from the same animal with a little mixed in from maybe the cow that was processed before and/or after.

You do know that there is some evidence to suggest that although cows are vegetarians, they are often fed the scrap remains of other cows mixed into their feed by cattle farmers eager for profit?
If you're going to eat beef, make sure it is grain-fed cattle, and that it is not injected with hormones and antibiotics. These thing destroy health, as well as the flavor of the meat.

take one cow divide it by no of states multiplied by no of outlets
and add 24% to it then check consumtion of patties per day
weigh that and remove all those ingredients that are not meat (u should get about 5 gms of meat )
and keep calculating to come to a figure that is tooo silly to write down

does anybody really give a damn abt how many cows?
maybe some people who are so concerned abt their diet and the amount of calories those stuff.
the beef might be mixed so it could be possible that it came from over 10000 cows.:D
