He had a horrible family life and needed a good reason to leave his unhappy home. He packed his bags one day and left home without looking back... he got his first job with a traveling circus.. his job was shoveling elephant poop. He fell madly in love with one elephant, naming her Etta Mae, after his beloved mother. One day, shots rang out near the circus tent where circus performers were practicing for the next show. John Locke was greatly distressed to see his beloved elephant bleeding to death from a gunshot wound to the stomach. Locke vowed to never let another elephant be accidentally shot from some frivolous war. He joined the French Revolution with the purpose of gunning down the man who shot Etta Mae, the elephant. He never found that man, but shot many other men he mistook for that man. Thus, John Locke was the accidental hero of the French Revolution. He died a heartbroken man, as he never got over his elephant.

Since everyone else is being cruel, I figure I'd better be nice.

John Locke did not have any part in the French Revolution. He died in 1704, long before the Revolution began. Locke comes up in discussions of the revolution because he was part of an intellectual movement which influenced the thinking of the revolutionaries.
