If you are using your own wireless connection, meaning you pay the cable or adsl provider for access, then you can be caught because the IP is registered to you and they know exactly what you do and when.
However, if you decide to tap into your neighbors wireless connection then no, you won't get busted but your neighbor will. I'm not advising that you do this, but you asked the question so there you go.

Your question isn't that clear, but I think your are asking about internet piracy?
The more illegal activity you are doing the more likely you are to have charges brought on you. The typical person that may download a few mp3 songs here and there on occasion is not likely to be charged. Someone who is downloading large volumes of pirate software/music/movies whatever it might be is more likely to be picked up by the authorities. And if you are selling bootleg items or distributing your piracy to others for profit you are just asking for trouble!

I understand what has been done in the past-- they look to see how many files you are sharing-- if you are sharing ANY, then you could get in trouble. Block the file so you aren't sharing any files, and you should be good to go. I was worried because they busted someone sharing 2K files-- At that a point, they said the standard was 2k files, but I don't share ANY.

I would think a very slim chance. Remember when, and probably still is it was illegal to copy onto tape off the radio, and movies off the TV. There used to be such a hullabaloo at the time. Enjoy
