Some women douche after a period. Its a so called vaginal cleanser.

What I can tell you medically speaking is that they are not safe to use contrary to popular belief. Never, ever douche UNLESS your gyn or doctor prescribes you a douche.

A douche is vinegar and water solution sometimes with fragrance that has an applicator to push this solution in the vagina. It is for cleaning and removing odor.

However, you should never need to use these, they are bad for you. They can upset the microbe and acid balance and subject you to yeast and other infections.

The vagina is a membrane that cleans itself...simply taking a shower will remove any odor from the outside.

It was once used by women to keep their insides "clean". However medical knowledge finally caught up with reality and it is no longer a common practice. It is not a method of birth control as some ignorant teenagers think. It does not protect you from STDs as some ignorant people think. The only time it is necessary is if you have some type of infection and your doctor recommends it. Otherwise, don't do it.

A douche is a small plastic container filled with water and/or soap and vinegar. It has a small tube with holes in it that you insert in your vaginal opening to cleanse yourself. It is often used after your period or after sex. However, it is not recommended that women use douches too often. Our systems cleanse themselves out naturally and by using a douche too often you could be washing away natural fighting bacteria that live in your vaginal walls.

It is used for vaginal cleaning it helps to control order as well as cleanse you inside as for when you should use it that would really depend on how sexually active you are and your body chemistry I would recommend talking to your obgyn about that as opposed to any on line answers or friends advice. Too often can cause problems.

Not neccessary. It is meant to cleanse and freshen. It's a waste of time and money. I JUST had my OBGYN tell me not long ago that it's a stupid thing to do to your body. Don't bother. Your body takes care of itself!

I agree with others. My doctor said not to do it. It is not needed. It must cause problems because more than one doctor has talked to me about it.

It's used to clean a womans vagina. I don't believe you should use it though, because the vagina has it's own cleaning system... and it can sometimes do more harm than good.
