I am really suprised as insted of helping poor and needy they spend so much money doing religious puja. Every body knows
God is almighty and Spirit he doesn't need anything to survive.

God deserves a beautiful place of worship. He also commands us to take care of the poor, the widows, the sick, the hopeless, the jailed. My church does all of those thing--a lot. We take heaps of groceries and clothes to shelters every week. We support missionaries in other countries as well as in the U.S. We help people with whatever their need is, all to glorify God.

From a christian perspective, it's not that God needs anything to survive. The idea is that God owns everything. Everything I have is thanks to him, and is technically his. All he asks for in return, is 10% of what I have (not just financially either). This is called tithing. So basically it's like the least I can do is give God what he asks for, from what's already his. Now as far as helping others, that should be part of being "religious" or "spiritual". I agree more should be done to help the less fortunate. However, God comes first in my book, and then compassion towards others.

I agree. I think some groups feel the need for prestige, others think buildings should be exquisite to please God, and there is the perceived need of big and beautiful to attract new members.
I agree that if the church has that much extra money, it can be used for more churches, providing food, helping the homeless in America, reach out to the ghettos/3rd world/buy back slaves in Sudan...the list is endless.

Temples being the place of worship and faith can move mountens ,people ancor their beings and pay regular visits to motivate themselves. Most of the temples do charity by helping the poor and needy. It is for you to make a choice of going to the temple to motivate your selves or help a needy directly and satisfy your social commitment.
