thank you so much everyone! i can't believe how nice everyone is in here.. well.. i've checked out the website but they don't really have pix of students. i'm sure they don't have uniforms though. this may sound shallow but.. i just have to ask this: do they usually repeat what they wear? well here in thailand it's usually considered a fashion faux pas if you repeat what you wear in a week's time. is it like that there? judging by the place.. a suburb in omaha.. what do you think fashion is like there? i'm not into rubber/tennis shoes and more into wedges and heels.. would that be acceptable?

thanks for the help!!!:)

ok, I just went searching for something that might help you ..with clothing and trends...

I would like to tell you that everyone will welcome you with open arms..and I hope they will...but like the other poster stated..kids can be mean.....I have one son who is very "popular"..and one not so "popular"...I believe the difference is one is very out going and friendly ... the other... he is more reserved and quiet..stand-off-ish...he is extremely quick witted and funny...but he has to be comfortable around you before he shows it......so, my suggestion would be to try and present yourself in a confident way...even if you don't feel it..pretend to be...be friendly..but not to friendly..don't go overboard....and if you hear or receive any negative comments...act like you didn't hear anything...and ignore it like it never happened.....I know that can be hard to do...but the more unaffected you appear the better off you will be.....people who say horrible things only do this to get a reaction..when none comes..they will move on to a different target......I am not trying to painting a horrible picture for you...I am just concentrating on a worse case scenarios and what you might encounter and how you might respond......it doesn't mean it will happen...and I am not saying this to cause you distress..I am just giving you the advice I gave to my boys when they enter into high school..you have a really good chance of a wonderful welcome...your from a different place...your mysterious ..this will go in your favor...but like everywhere you need to prepare for one or two azz's in the crowd.....

..I am sure everything will be fine....think blue jeans..cute top and tennis shoes...they have never went out of style...I think the ripped out..worn looking jeans are in fashion now....and some popular (overpriced) clothes are from stores like American Eagle and holster (or something like that)...you probably could find these brands on ebay and get them there a lot cheaper to......

I wish you the best on your new adventure...I am sure in no time you will blend right in.... : )

The guidance department at your school will assist you with college applications and any tests you need to take for school.

Girls can make friends. One of the easiest ways to make friends initially is to find another new student. You can sit at lunch together and figure out how things work at your school. You are both in the same boat, both feeling unsure of what to do and both looking for a friend. It may last for a lifetime or just serve a temporary purpose when you find other people you have more in common with.

There will be lots of different groups of people at school. Watch what is going on before school, after school in the halls and in the cafeteria. There will be lots of different opportunities to meet and make friends. There will be clubs and sports and after school activities. Ask around and see what is available. Find something you like and join it and inevitably there will be someone to befriend when you find an activity that you enjoy doing that others are doing.

As for clothes you'll see what kids wear once you're there and what you feel comfortable wearing...in the meantime you can't go wrong with blue jeans and a cute shirt or a T-shirt. Don't worry about being trendy or fashionable until you see what people find acceptable at your school or among your new friends.

Do you know what school you'll be attending? They may have a web page that you can check out info about the students and even if they have uniforms (some public schools do wear them). There may be pics and bios of the students and that can give you an insight to what interests they have that you may share with them.
If they don't have a web page check out the city or county web page. They'll give you an idea of the local culture.
When all else fails: jeans, cute tops, and sneakers are universal teen attire.

Your guess is as good as mine. I have a thirteen year old boy who can't make friends and the kids his age always make fun of him. There is nothing wrong with him that any therapist can tell. Kids are mean and evil.
