I'm considering purchasing a Schecter Omen-5 5-string bass guitar. Any input on how this bass is or if there are any better ones between $300-400?

I don't know anything about bass, but my son has a Schecter Damien 7-string guitar and it is amazing. Besides being the coolest looking guitar I have ever seen (everything is completely flat black, including the pickups, except for the inlays which are silver bats), he says the quality is excellent and he loves how it plays. He likes it better than his Strat.
It's cool to see even veteran musicians look at him playing and say 'what the hell is that?'

Schecter is a good brand,
I'd go with an Ibanez bass, but for a five string,
You may have a good one there.
