lol, that's very confusing I know.

Lets talk about DVD first. HD-DVD is a format, I think it's High Density DVD. Certainly NOT High Definition DVD. HD-DVD is a new format rivaling Sony's Blue Ray DVD. If you wants to play a HD-DVD disc, then you need a HD-DVD drive of course.

As far as High Defination for those TV and display is concern, they has nothing to do with PC display. TV resolution as remain as standard resoulution for so long, in terms of PAL and NTSC. Now they decided to bring up the resolution and so they have new standards for it too call HD.

In your computer, all this while there's no such standard for resolution. You have 800x600, 1024x768 and so on. We just use whatever resolution that's suitable with our display.

As to your question, if you have a HD movies, it depends on what disc format it comes in. HD-DVD, then you need HD-DVD drive. If its Blue Ray, then of course Blue Ray drive.

Your LCD, no, there's no such thing as HD LCD for PC LCDs. It's still measure in the same way, using inches. 19", 21" 24" and so on.

yes, you need both a lcd screen (the guy above me is correct with how they are measured) and player to watch hd movies. however, im gonna have to steer you away from hd dvd and towards blu-ray. as blu-ray is better technology and absolutely destroying hd dvd in sales. im afraid if you go hd dvd your gonna be stuck with a laserdisc drive on your computer:) oh year, and there are no disney, fox, or sony movies on hd dvd, only blu-ray.
