It doesn't tell me anything about their character. Some people hate animals because they've had bad experiences with them.

In general, people who hate animals are likely not too compassionate when it comes to people. But that is a generalization! Some people are scared of animals and others just cannot relate.

I like people that like animals. I don't care if they do not like them but I speak up if I hear people saying bad things about animals. I know people are entitled to their own opinion but I love animals and I want respect for them when I am around.

Some people just don't see the reward as being worth the effort that pets require. I don't see those folks as untrustworthy, but you can if you like. Some people just prefer to have human contact because they can relate to a conversation better than to body language.
