if you cut out the middle steps, technology improves humans ability to survive and breed. so it leads to all the negatives associated with an excessive number of humans consuming the planets resources faster than other species. without it humans would be victims of disease and famine and predation keeping the population balanced

The general public are exposed to more radiation (usual is 1millisivert)!! I guess this can cause health risks such as greater chance of developing cancer.
