My family doctor is female and I get along with her great, so Yup a family doctor OR an ob/gyn can do it.

A family doctor can do pap smears. All though some women feel more comfortable going to an OB/GYN.

Most family doctors do it right in their office. Right now, my particular doctor rathers I go to an ob/gyn. That's unusual, but I think he's just sick of doing them all day!! And my ob/gyn is super gentle.

General praticioners, PAs, RNs, in some offices do them. Sometimes even if you go to your GYN, you will not see the Dr unless you have a prob. These days you are lucky to get 15 min with a Phy.

I used to use my primary care physician but it was getting uncomfortable because I had to see him so much and when he did notice something I would have to go to a gynecologist anyways so I started see one.
