Some people incorrectly associate Halloween with devil worship.

Halloween is actually like Christmas Eve. The night before a Christian holy day.

It is the eve of All Saint's Day or All Hallows Eve or Halloween. Just like "hallowed be Thy name."

But just like Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday), Halloween has taken on a life of its own.

Christians, including Catholics, do not fear death, evil, or satan. In Christ, we can laugh in the face of death.

From an email I received: Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside, and scoops out all the yucky stuff--including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

With love in Christ.

Christmas was once no longer celebrated as Christmas, it was once Winter Solstice. It is the longest night time of the 12 months, and the shortest day. It is the birthday of the Sun King, while the times start to develop longer. This season has been related in pagan instances with Gods and heros births, Oedipus, Therseus, Hercules, Perseus, Jason, Dionysus, Appollo, Mithra, Horus, or even Arthur. They all possessed a story start, demise and resurection, nearly that of Jesus, and to make issues worse, a few pre-dated the Christian saviour. This is also why John Calvin and different leaders of the reformation hated it, why the Puritans refused to acknowlage it, and it was once even made unlawful in Boston. Yes, the Church and guy determined to make December twenty fifth, the day The saviour, The "Light" of the sector was once born, (despite the fact that there is not any proof of this), The roman catholic fathers determined this in 320 C.E. To take cognizance clear of Pagan celebrations. Easter!! In the roman catholic church, there are 2 vacations that get combined up with the vernal equinox, (which incidentally, is a time while each day and night time are at same lengths, however gentle profits dominace over the darkish of night time.) The first is a constant date of March twenty fifth within the historical liturgical calendar, it's referred to as the Feast of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. When Gabriel introduced to her that she was once pregnant, Why this date? Well determine 9 months from this date and it finally ends up december 25!! This date was once additionally picked by means of the church. The different vacation being Easter, The resurection of Jesus. The identify Easter comes from the Teutonic Lunar Goddess Ostre, who symbols had been the bunny, (fertility) and the egg (cosmic image for production) Her vacation was once held at the vernal equinox complete moon. The church, does no longer have fun complete moons, even though they do calculate by means of them, so that they positioned Easter at the subsequent Sunday AFTER a whole moon, thgis is why it movements round such a lot. By the way in which, the church was once so adamant approximately NOT incorperating the Goddess symbols, that they extra calculated that if Easter fell on a whole moon, it was once held the Sunday subsequent. Are they evil? no. These are instances of celibration!! So revel in, and permit the christians do the identical.

Most people think Halloween is bad because of ignorance or having been brainwashed by others who were taught it was bad.
The origins for Halloween as we have it here in America came with the Scottish & Irish emigrants; they brought their own traditions with them & of course they've been added on to over the generations into what we now have. Celebrating the Devil hasn't ever been part of it.
Letting kids trick or treat isn't bad or wrong - it should be supervised by adults, you should go only to homes you know or throw a party at home, you should only put the children in safe costumes.
It's up to each parent what they do with their children, but I've never seen anything wrong with it & we've enjoyed it all of my life - now I enjoy it with my children & that's even better!!!

It can be wrong but it does give children something fun to remember to have candy and dress up scary. Most of it is from fake legends to get more money. Some is real legends or things believed to come from the past. A little is because of fun. Cut kids some slack it is just another enjoyable memory like Christmas with a little scariness added in.

To a pagan, Halloween is known as Samhein. It would be like the pagan version of New Year's Eve. Back when Christianity was trying to convert Pagan Europe (400 to 1200 AD), they said that anything that was of the Old Religion (paganism) was of the devil. Consequently, many pagan practices were abolished, sometimes violently. Of course some of the pagan practices and holidays were kept and converted to Christianity. For example, Dec 25th, a pagan holiday celebrating the birth of the sun became Christmas, the birth of the SON. Another holiday, Ostara became Easter. Most pagan holidays were "converted" by the Roman Catholic church for "lesser" holidays: Candlemas (Feb 1), Beltane (May Day, May 1), Lughsday (Aug 1) and of course Samhain (Oct 31). Many christian "traditions" came from pagan beliefs. Look up the beliefs of the followers of Osiris and Dionysius and see if they closely follow the Gospels. Of course they predate Jesus by 100-500 years. We still use many things and words that had pagan origin. Look at the days of the week: Sunday (Sun Day), Monday (Moon Day), Thursday (Thor's Day) and Friday (Freyda's Day, Freyda was Odin's wife from Scandanavian paganism). Most of the months of the year follow the same pattern. Of course, that doesn't even measure up to the violence that Christian's performed converting people to their faith. It is estimated that Christians killed between 1 to 6 million pagans, countless Muslims and Jews. They would be considered the terrorists of their time, if it had happened today.

There is much opinion on this subject. The origins of Halloween are ancient and pagan. Being pagan, it is anathema to modern religions (I am familiar only with Christian religions). The Catholic Church has established All Souls Day and All Saints Day to compete with Halloween. In truth, the holiday has become as commercialized as Christmas and Thanksgiving, and has lost much of its ancient meaning. I suggest a web search for "origin of Halloween" for a great deal of information. To answer your question more directly, it is, in my opinion at least, entirely fine to let the kids dress up and go out trick-or-treating, provided their parents properly supervise the activity.

a good friend of mine does not let her kids go trick or treating out in public or let them dress up scary. instead she takes them to our church and they r always doing something there for the kids for hallloween. as for me l have 2 kids and l let them dress what to be what ever they want and trick or treat in our neighborhood and then l take them to church as well. l love decorating my house for halloween and the kids love it to. some people think it is bad or its the celebrating of the devil which l think is ridiculous and my friends kids love coming to my house on halloween. it was fun for me as a kid and l want the same memories for my kids as well. halloween is what u make of it and that it. u get to dress up one time out of the yr into what ever u want so l do it , be responsible and just have fun. most kids know halloween and costumes and candy anyway , why take away the fun for them. even though my friend and l who r very close friends she and l feel different about halloween. but my kids have more fun though lol

I celebrate harvest time, but to celebrate something that stands for evil is not anything I want in my life. If you saw demons and devils you would not want anything to do with them. If you knew what hollows eve really was you would not either.
Every year so many babies are sacrifice to the devil. I have ministered to so many people that WAS in witchcraft and told me horrible things that even happened to then on hollows eve night. It is a devils Holiday
Leviticus 19:31 REGARD NOT them that have familiar spirits, NEITHER SEEK AFTER wizards, to be DEFILED by them: I am the LORD your God.
20:6 And THE SOUL THAT TURNETH AFTER such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

2 Chronicles 33:6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and DEALT WITH a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, TO PROVOKE HIM TO ANGER.
Are you angry that these scriptures are before you? Will you "celebrate" Satan's holiday anyway?
1 Samuel 15:23 For REBELLION is as the sin of WITCHCRAFT, and STUBBORNNESS is as INIQUITY AND IDOLATRY. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
