why do people say it a humid day when it is very hot ?

Question

whereas after a good rain when humidity is actually very high people seldom say that a humid day...yes it is correct that high temperature causes greater evaporation and that vapour increases humidity content of the local atmosphere ...but from my standpoint degree of humidity in this case will never be greater than the degree of humidity after a heavy rain .
please refrain from doing non-scientific answers . And please answer !

Too much perspiration makes you think about too much humidity even though humidity level is comparatively low.That is the reason.

You are generally right. After a heavy rain, the air is much cooler and the moisture content has increased, therefore there is a higher humidity. On a 90 degree day, the dewpoint has a much smaller chance of catching up with the temperature (A 90 degree dewpoint is extremely high and rare) and so it is usually not too humid on hot days.

It's a question of RELATIVE humidity. A given quantity of moisture in the air can feel a lot stickier on a hot day than on a cool one because on the hot day, you're busy sweating in a (mostly vain) attempt to cool off. On a cool day, you don't need to sweat so much, so you're comfortable. It's not totally scientific, but then, neither are PEOPLE.

We blame humidity because we perspire and the evaporation rate of our perspiration to cool down our body temperature is slower in the hot and humid weather.

While in colder rainy days, our body does not need to perspire to cool down its temperature.
