OK, here's the question:

3 men go into a restaurant for lunch. Their meals cost $10 each ($30 altogether). However, when the waiter adds up the bill he finds that it is only $25. So he gives $3 change to the men, but puts the remaining $2 in his pocket. (He's cheeky ;)

However - this means the men only paid $9 each for their meal (and $9 times 3 is $27) since they each got $1 change back.
Now the waiter has the $2, making that $29.

So where is the missing dollar?

Good luck working this one out - I first came across this logic question a year ago and it took Mum, Dad and my teacher to work it out!

There is no missing dollar... The restaurant has $25, the men have $3 and the waiter took his $2 tip!

25+3+2 = 30

There is no reason that the $27 + ($2) should add up to the original $30, but rather $27 + (-$2) = the $25 bill.

The three men paid 9 dollars each for a 25 dollar meal and a 2 dollar tip. Each paid 8.3333333 for his meal and 0.66666667 for the tip.

easy, you don't count up from $25, you count back from $30.
$30 - $3 given back to the men=$27. $27-$2 that the waiter kept = $25. what's so confusing?

You're looking at it wrong, your counting the same money twice and making it complicated and thats why you get an impossible answer

$25 for meal + $3 returned + 2 kept = 30

All money is accounted for, don't try to split it up and count the same money more then once, your complicating what is very simple.
