My daughter is 6 months old and I feel like everything is so different from when my older daughter was a baby.
When my older daughter was a baby (she's going to be 3 in Aug) I gave her cereal at 4 months and fruits and vegtables and other stuff at 6.
Now I was told to hold off solids till 6 months now it seems like I have a whole lot of food to be introducing. She has been eating cereal for a couple weeks already. She eat it in the morning and before bed.
I need like a schedule kind of cause my other baby was bottle fed and this one is breast fed. Everything feels so different and I have a lot going on trying to keep my to little ones in order and I have a husband who has cancer so a lot of added stress there.
Please help me get a eating schedule for my baby.

This is what I do now. She wakes up at like 7 and we chill in bed and she nurses and we sleep till about 10am when she has her cereal and she will nurse on demand throughtout the day and then she eats ceral at about 9:30 while my husband puts our baby to bed then she nurses and goes down till about 7am. I'm just confused where to fit the fruits and vegtables in.

My baby is nearly 7 months old so I'll give you our feeding schedule. She has a bottle at about 6am (all bottles are about 7oz). Then she has cereal at 9am (two formula scoops of rice cereal mixed with half juice half water to desired consistency). Then a bottle at about 10am. Another bottle about 2pm. Then she has baby food at 5pm. I make my own but she has 3-4oz at a time and a sippy cup with 25% juice 75% water that totals only about 2oz of liquid. Then she has a bottle about 7:30 or 8pm right before bed.

It sounds like you've got a lot of stress in your life so don't stress too hard over the solids, they're just for practice at this age. Just remember the basics for introduction--space each new food 3-4 days apart to isolate potential allergens. No honey, citrus, strawberries until age 1, or peanut butter until age 2 (unless family history then age 3). You can even introduce yogurt and mild cheeses at about 7 months, the dairy in them is much easier for babies to digest than the dairy in milk http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/dairy.htm .

Well Im a first time mom and my lil one just turned 6 months. Last week she had her follow up appointment. The Doc gave me a schedule so Ill just give you a quick run down. Start off with cereal (rice, mixed etc...) Then give her some formula, breast milk on the side so her stool wont be too hard. Big difference in eating habits so that tends to happen. After about a week, then give her veggies like green beans, peas, sweet potatoe and so forth. Dont forget to add the milk or formula again. At about 9 months you start to add the meats. (obviously not there yet but the cereal and veggies are working great as of now) and last you add the fruits and juices. Makes perfect sense when the Doc xplained it. He said always start off with cereal and veggies becuz if you start off sweet then youll have a harder time converting them to the vegetables. Hope this helped! Oh and every new food you introduce give it to her consecutively for a minimum of three days just to make sure she digesting everything well. Good luck =)

LOL things have not changed really they have not. As a child they told my mom the same thing. I will be 39 in a week. My grandmother came to help her and said "Feed that baby" Dr said 4 to 6 mo but there is no way I could have lasted that long.

My older daughter was taking cerial off the spoon at about 5 weeks, we had slipped a little in her evening bottle before then. They had nipples with a cross cut and she could get it threw. After they quit saleing those we took a sharp knife and cut our own. So when she bit down on it it would open up.

Our second did not want solid food until she was about 4 or 5 months but she was no where near as active as the first.

Our first son was very active and was wanting more than 32 oz a day and he started cerial early as well. Before he was 2 mo old. The dr said not to give him more than 32 oz a day or he would put on to much weight.

The 2nd son started cerial around 3 mo.

So it all depends on your child and how active they are... We gave ours the cerial at night so they would stay a little fuller and sleep longer at night.

Just remember you are with your child day in and day out. The Drs get all these great ideas but they dont always know. So you must do what you think best for your child. Your child may not follow the norm path and that is fine. As long as you take care of them and there needs...

An example. My 2nd daughter was throwing up all the time, even 2 hours after she took her bottle. I explained about the milk allergy in my family and that that is what I thought it was... He said not likely and no keep giving her the milk and we will try gas drops... I waited one day. Called him back and said it made no difference. He started saying well we will call in a script and she needs... I said NO, I am going to buy some soy formula and going to try that. He paused and said that it was not what he would do but he could not stop me... Our baby was happy and stopped throwing up in one bottle. Next moring I called the dr and told him. Now we joke about it, he has learned alot from me. We have learned some things from him as well.

So I say introduce things to your baby, each one at a time and wait a few days before adding another. That way if there is a reaction you will spot it and know what may have caused it...

Sorry to hear about your husband. I can understand stress. All 4 of my children are bipolar and ahdh LOL.

Oh yes keep the cerial for at night, it stays longer than fruit... so you will get a little more sleep that way LOL.

Take care.
Hugs Kim Lynn

I have a son who is breastfed and a husband that is a dietitian for the WIC offices (women infants and children) where we live. I fed our son twice a day with cereal like you did and at 6 months I tried #1 vegetables (peas and green beans) first. He ate that mixed w/ his cereal for a week or two to get him used to the taste of things. My husband recommends mothers to wait 2-3 days between new foods so you can check for allergies. My son didn't like fruits to begin with, but we tried them again and again until he got used to them. He now eats a whole variety of things, but he doesn't always like something new right away. About 7 1/2 months we tried #2 foods, and at 8-9 months go with the #3...you can also give them gerber puff treats to get them used to picking up things with their hands. I didn't try meats with him until he was almost 8 months because I didn't really like the smell LOL! My husband also recommends that you try to get the foods that are just the vegetable/fruit mixed with water when you look at the label. They are better for you than the jar foods that are a dessert or a mixed meal because they don't contain the fillers like rice flour and chemicals. T 9 months you can start giving table foods, but of course stay away from peanut butter, honey, strawberries until they are 1 1/2. Hope that helped a little, if you still have questions you should find a child nutritionist/dietitian in your area, they often know more than pediatritians when it comes to diet because that is what they focused on specifically. Good luck to you!

Sorry about your hubby, I really hope everything goes well. I don't see a problem with what you are doing, as long as she's eating sems to be full and happy and wow she sounds like a good sleeper, just wait and go with the flow she may start getting sick of cereal then you'd know to do a little change, maybe when your eating dinner or lunch give her a try of things off your plate mush it a bit, a try here and there doesn't hurt, she can only spit it out, but really don't worry too much, she sounds like she's getting all the goodness she can get. Good on you!

Mainly, you must keep nursing, that is where all her perfect nutrition is. Otherwise you can give her mashed banana, applesauce, sweet potatoes, and green beans. There are others, but these will taste the best to her. Also you can mix these foods with rice cereal or breastmilk. My babies loved that and nutritionally it is great. Breastmilk is still the most important food at this age.

each and every baby is distinctive so which you will could test to ascertain what's ultimate on your toddler. We presently feed our six month previous 3 formula bottles daily of 5-7 oz..frequently at 6am, 10am, and 2pm. At dinner time (6pm) we provide him the two oatmeal or gerber fruit/vegetable. He additionally beverages approximately 2oz of apple juice between each and every feeding. This works nicely for us. **we are finding to alter the 10am feeding from formula to solids. wish this helps.

I started all my 7 children on baby food as soon as I could, which was 3 weeks old,,cereal fitst thing in morning and last thing at night--then came a little bit of fruit veggies(never give them just fruit for 6 month because then they will be harder to start them on other normal food-)-every child needs fruit and veggies, cereals. I used my own instincts when feeding them, it is much easier to feed breast milk but I found it wasn't that hard to make up bottles for them either. every two to three hours your little one needs to eat and you will not go wrong by one feeding cereal in morning and one at night at 6 month--try her gradually with something different prior to her milk every two-three hours at the latest but if she cries in between give her lots of love, her play time, diaper dry, warm bath every morning, and evening if possible and a s;poonful of this or that--lots of yogurt, cereal, fruit veggies...try her with some meat of some sort in the middle of the day--she might show you she only needs to eat every 4 hours but in between give her fruit or fruit snacks....if you need anymore help please ask I will be here as well as others...TAKE CARE..
