If you are going to get the same food from the same restaurant, take out is cheaper than eating in. When eating in, you have to leave a tip of 15% + there are also drinks. If you take the food home it's cheaper because you can use your sodas from home and there is no tip.

This depends on how many people you're feeding. Take out costs more for us, we area family of 6. We can't get take out or eat out (fast food) for less than $20 no matter where we go...this even includes the dollar menu at places.

It's easier (and healthier) to eat in!

Today at the local deli I bought my usual lunch of a big salad with six toppings (broccoli, tomato, celery, carrots, black olives, grilled chicken) plus a bag of salted peanuts (as an afternoon snack) for $9.00. Maybe it’s not the primo healthiest thing I can do for myself, but it’s definitely healthier than the grilled pastrami or steak subs I used to have. I’ve been doing this for a few weeks and have been able to shed a couple of pounds per week, and by adding a bit of exercise I feel a whole lot better. On the other hand, my coworker bought a grilled ham & cheese on white bread, chips and a Snapple iced tea for $9.50. Because my meal consists of mostly high water-content veggies, I don't need a drink to wash it down.

So here we have a great deal of difference in healthy nutrition for not much of a difference in price. Had I made the salad myself and brought it to work, I probably would have spent half to even one-third the money!

It usually costs at least 5 or 6 bucks to eat out at a fast food place. It's much cheaper to eat at home.

Take out costs more.

Preparing your own food at home is the least expensive way to eat.
