The best time of day to water the lawn is in the early morning. When watering, water deeply do not sprinkle the top of the soil. Water deeply means using a sprinkler and a measuring spike to record how much water used. 1 inch of water per week, unless there is rain. Watering deeply makes the roots grow deeper in the soil. Sprinkling the top of the grass with a hose keeps the roots near the top of the soil where the sun will burn it. Always mow high in the summer about 3inches. Leave grass clippings on to recycle nitrogen.fertilizer. Overseed early spring or late summer will thicken the grass and prevent weed seeds from entering. I use Scott's Turf builder four times a year. It is a great fertilizer as you can use it anytime and it will not burn the lawn. Do not water in the daytime or nighttime as you will be wasting your money down the drain. The sun will evaporate the water before it can be used properly. Night time bring all kinds of diseases, molds fungus, etc. Early morning is the preferred time of day as the water has time to be used properly for the soil. Hope this helps!

The best time to water your lawn is early morning. This way the turf can absorb the water before it is evaporated during mid-day temperatures. Nighttime watering is discouraged because this may create an ideal environment (cool and wet) for diseases to develop.

Isn't it like early morning or late at night because the water has time to saok into the ground or else the hot sun will vaporise it.
'The best time of day to water is early morning before the temperatures begin to rise. This gives the plants a good supply of water to face the heat of the day. Early morning also tends to be a time of lower winds and thus reduced evaporation. If watering cannot be done in the early morning, very late afternoon is also satisfactory. It is important to water early enough so that the leaves have time to dry before nightfall to avoid development of fungal diseases. If possible, choose watering methods that will not wet the leaves (such as soaker hoses) and thus allow for late evening watering.'

It's better to water the lawn after the heat of the day is done, or before it gets started. Night time or early AM is best, if you have a sprinkler system.. If you water during the day, most of it just evaporates off, doing no real good.

I've always heard the best time is before dawn. Grass that is watered in the sun can burn and the water evaporates more at that time.
Watering at night is OK, but I've read that it can lead to mold if it's watered too much at night.
Hope this helps.

Early morning so it can seap into the soil before the sun gets too hot. Watering at night doesn't give it a chance evaporate and you could make your lawn mildewy or moldy.

early in the morning, maybe an hour before sunrise- The water has a chance to soak into the soil, but the foliage doesn't remain wet long enough to invite mold and mildew

Early mornng or evening when evaporation is at its lowest. If you must water during the day try to follow the shade, if you have any. Watering in the hot sun is not suggested.

In the morning before 10 am, that way it doesn't evaporate and has time to soak in and it doesn't leave the plants wet at night and cause mold or other plant diseases
